Dunelm
Dunelm is a British home furnishings retailer that offers an extensive range of high quality products from bedding, textiles and furniture to kitchenware, home décor and lighting. The company sells it’s own in-house Dunelm branded products along with exclusive labels including Dorma and Fogarty. The business was founded in 1979 by Bill and Jean Adderley and now operates from over 200 stores across the UK, Ireland and Jersey.
We were approached by Dunelm to tender for the lighting within their stores, our brief was to provide a functional, efficient and cost effective lighting solution to the sales floor, back of house and external areas. On the sales floor they were looking for a linear fitting with a broad polar distribution to evenly illuminate each area and within the aisles they wanted the option for an on-board sensor to minimise their energy consumption during stocking hours.
Working closely with the store development team and their appointed electrical contractors we designed a bespoke linear luminaire equipped with an on-board PIR sensor and internal relay. These sensored fittings were installed in each aisle alongside non-sensored versions and during trading all fittings operate at 100%. When the store closes the majority of lights are switched off but the sensored versions continue to operate, activating when presence is detected within the aisle during stocking. Dunelm were very pleased with the finished result and we continue to supply lighting across their estate.
