Supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Dextra Group are proud to be a participant of the UN Global Compact and supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The 17 UN SDGs are the foundation of a global plan for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. They are an urgent call to action for us all to join forces in a global partnership – and they embody a universal recognition that we must all take action today to make a lasting positive impact on tomorrow.

Dextra Group are committed to ethical and sustainable business practices and adopting responsible behaviours that support our core values. This means we take account of our social, economic and environmental impact. CSR benefits the environment, our employees, customers and communities in which we operate, both locally and further afield.

We focus on 7 of the SDG’s where we feel we, as a company, can have the biggest impact and these are in synergy with our company core values:

2 – Zero Hunger

Food banks play a crucial role in supporting the Zero Hunger SDG by providing essential food and nutrition to those in need.

Dextra Group have been a regular supporter of Gillingham Foodbank for the last 4 years, with both financial donations, company and employee food collections. Gillingham Foodbank believe that nobody in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why they provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. They are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Dextra Group are now reaching out to support more food banks in key areas with the highest poverty in the UK with a £1000 donation to these in 2026:

3 – Good Health and Well Being

Employee wellbeing encompasses mental, physical, emotional, and economic health, influenced by workplace relationships, resources, and decisions. It is enhanced by a positive culture prioritising wellbeing, motivation, and benefits like financial support and health aids.

Financial benefits – increased employer pension contribution, pension workshops and retirement planning. Health benefits include well-being meetings, life insurance, corporate gym membership discount, Cash Health Plan and Employee Assistance Programme, Cycle to Work scheme and Occupational Health.

Dextra Group have also supported Gillingham Community Leisure Trust with their new Wellbeing Hub at RiversMeet Active. Through this facility, RiversMeet will be able to connect with local active partnerships linked to the NHS to grow their exercise/GP referral scheme. This is not only improving the health of residents locally but is reducing the strain on GP’s and other linked health services in our catchment area.

8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth

As a privately owned company and one of the largest employers in our locality we have a responsibility to offer productive employment and decent work to our 500+ employees. Priority is given to protecting human rights, providing fair working conditions, promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and offering a platform for social dialogue. Our continuing expertise in design and manufacturing has placed us at the forefront of the UK lighting industry for both standard and special products, specialising in many market sectors. ISO accreditation and an ongoing commitment to ‘Made in Britain’ and investment in the finest UK lighting manufacturing equipment available ensures high standards and quality throughout all levels of the company.
